Full Version: Python

Just thought Id post some of the tutorials out there for Python programming language as the one that comes bundled with the compiler at www.python.org can be a bit difficult to follow, especially for those who are new to programming (like me!)
http://www.freenetpages.co.uk/hp/alan.gauld/
http://honors.montana.edu/~jjc/easytut/easytut/
A great introduction to the language is here: http://www.hetland.org/python/instant-hacking.php

Hope some of those helps! Im learning python at the moment, hoping that it will be of help to me when I start c++ or any other language...so far so good!! smile.gif

Nice post, I'm pretty sure dissolutions has been messing around with python. Would be interesting to see what he thinks.
subcorner
yes, i agree
this links are great.
i work on python for 2years and i understand that i could learn it 10years more wink.gif
are there a lot of people who work on it?
i thought i was the only one hihi.
dissolutions
Subcorner: your right it's a basic language but it keeps getting better and better biggrin.gif the more you go into it the more indepth it gets... the ability to use it with web applications is always a + as well.

I've had a lil experience in it used to work with it in school and continued after that, pop into it now and then.

I've seen the instanthacking link and it's great. The other 2 links are great too biggrin.gif The first one seems pretty indepth and i'll be given that a look over definately good posts biggrin.gif.

Python is great for a beginning language because the way it's orginized is alot like lower level programming languages such as C/C++ etc. While other languages are great for beginners python gets them going directly into the language style. biggrin.gif
subcorner
yes u're right.
teachers told me that python was the as c but easier.
I have searched for a long time to tuts about python
but it was every time a basic documentation...
i've found in youre links some things that i've never seen...
like this:
DECLARE SUB dokeyevent (keypress AS STRING)
DECLARE SUB doquitevent (keypress AS STRING)

i didn't know that we can declare subroutines in python...
it's silly but now, i know wink.gif
i just have to know how to use it and the utility hihi.

I absolutly agree.

Ive been learning python for about 11 months on and off and in the past 3 months started on C and its definatly helped me understand Cs language structure, due to the sililarities between them.

Python is definatly the place to start and its also taking off, being used in a multitude of applications, even some mission critical systems (none of risk to life though), so within time, knowledge of python might actually be of "real-life" use for you, both in job applications, and in the job your working in (instead of being seen as a "hobby" programming language its often portrayed as).

Python rocks man! biggrin.gif

Thanks for the links to the Tutorial, I am learning Python and had'nt seen these.
A quick look and they seem to be some of the better tuts around.

Been searching for Python In a Nutshell with no luck, actually havent been able to find any really good ebooks on Python.
